This OEMatch Automotive Undercoat Spray Can is precisely formulated to serve as the required groundcoat for select tri-stage OEMatch paint colors. It's engineered to deliver the correct foundation tone, ensuring your final color sprays true, matches accurately, and displays the proper depth and effect expected from factory tri-stage systems. With our proprietary adjustable nozzle, you can achieve spray-gun-level control and finish—without needing a full professional setup.

This undercoat is mandatory for all OEMatch tri-stage colors that require this undercoat, providing the exact base needed before applying the mid-coat and top layers. It lays down smoothly, promotes uniform coverage, and helps eliminate blotchiness or color mismatch that can occur when spraying advanced finishes.

All of our OEMatch Basecoats require a gray sealer as the ground coat and then needs to be topped with our 2k Clearcoat for the gloss and protection. This Alpha Automotive Basecoat offers smooth application, consistent coverage, and a true OEM finish. Perfect for spot repairs, panel resprays, or full restorations. • All OEMatch Basecoats require our Gray AP-7541g Sealer as the ground coat and then needs to be topped with one of our Alpha Automotive Clearcoats. Please make sure you at least get those for your project.

What is blending?

Blending (also called "feathering out" or "melting in") means you gradually taper your new basecoat outward so that the metallic orientation, pearl load, and color tone flow naturally into the existing OEM finish. Instead of stopping the color at a hard tape line, you create a smooth visual transition. The clearcoat then covers the entire panel (or the blend area + full panel), locking everything in and making the repair seamless.
